Musculoskeletal physiotherapy

About musculoskeletal physiotherapy, the conditions we treat and the treatments we offer.

Musculoskeletal physiotherapy is a specialised form of treatment focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of conditions affecting the muscles, bones, ligaments, tendons, and joints.

Whether you're suffering from a sports injury, arthritis, or post-surgery recovery, our team of therapists use evidence-based techniques within outstanding therapeutic facilities to help you regain strength, function, and mobility.

Common musculoskeletal conditions we treat

  • Back & neck pain: Chronic or acute pain, spinal disc problems, sciatica, whiplash, and posture-related discomfort.
  • Sports injuries: Sprains, strains, tendinopathy, ligament tears, and overuse injuries.
  • Joint pain: Hip, knee, ankle, shoulder, elbow, and wrist pain including osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Post-surgical rehabilitation: Rehabilitation following joint replacement, fractures, ACL reconstruction, spinal surgery, rotator cuff repair or other surgeries to restore movement and strength.
  • Repetitive strain injuries: Conditions like tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, shoulder or hip bursitis and other tendinopathies caused by repetitive movements.
  • Injury prevention: Techniques and strategies to avoid injury during physical activity or daily tasks.

Our three-point musculoskeletal physiotherapy approach

1. Comprehensive assessment

Your physiotherapy journey begins with a detailed assessment where we evaluate your movement patterns, strength and pain presentation to create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs and goals.

2. Personalised treatment plan

Your treatment might include:

  • Exercise therapy: Strengthening exercises, stretches, and corrective movements are designed to promote healing, restore function, and prevent future injuries. This might include a bespoke home exercise programme, rehabilitation sessions in our physio gym or one of our Pilates or exercise classes.
  • Hydrotherapy: Also known as aquatic therapy, this involves exercise that uses the unique physical properties of water, such as buoyancy, resistance, and hydrostatic pressure to benefit your physical health.
  • Hands-on techniques: We utilise a range of techniques, including manual therapy, joint mobilisations, soft tissue work, shockwave therapy and acupuncture to relieve pain and improve function.
  • Education & advice: We equip you with the knowledge and tools to manage and prevent musculoskeletal pain. This includes ergonomic advice and lifestyle modifications to enhance recovery.

3. Long-term wellbeing
We don't just treat the problem—we work with you to maintain a pain-free lifestyle. Our goal is to empower you with the skills to take control of your health and movement.
