We have organised a series of free lectures on nutrition and how making the right food choices can complement physiotherapy and the recovery process.
Food as Medicine: Eating well for osteoarthritis
Wednesday 14 May, 6.45-8pm
Guest speakers and nutritional therapists Natalie and Caroline will cover:
- Osteoarthritis explained - what it is, the signs, symptoms and risk factors for men and women.
- The metabolic and muscular connection - is osteoarthritis just about wear and tear.
- The influence of the gut on your joints - how the microbiome can play a role in your aches and pains.
- Essential nutrients for joint health - the benefits of an anti-inflammatory diet and specific nutrients within it.
The lecture will be followed by a question and answer session.
Pre-diabetes prevention – the power of diet and lifestyle
Wednesday 11 June
Talk content includes:
- Understanding pre-diabetes and blood sugars – what is it and what does it mean
- Connecting health factors – what might be driving your higher blood sugars
- The balanced plate – understand how to keep blood sugars stable without restriction
- Meal timing and portion control – it isn’t just about what you eat.
- Other factors that influence blood sugars – exercise, hydration, stress, sleep.

Navigating midlife transformation – the role of nutrition and lifestyle in perimenopause

- What is perimenopause – understanding the hormonal fluctuations and changes in metabolism
- The important glands, organs and health implications for women as you move with menopause
- Signs and symptoms of transformation - from the everyday complaints to the hidden ones you may not know about.
- Key nutrients for perimenopause support – helping to prepare, manages and alleviate symptoms.
- Stress management and taking time for yourself – the importance of lifestyle changes.
