Holy Cross Physiotherapy Clinic is hosting an informal lecture about knee injuries in ski sport by an internationally renowned consultant orthopaedic knee surgeon.
Guest speaker Mr Simon Thompson will discuss how to prevent injury in the first instance, and what to do if you injure your knee on the slopes. He will also talk about his expertise in cruciate ligament reconstruction, when to opt for surgery and when to rehabilitate with physiotherapy.
Jo Hounsome, Physiotherapist at Holy Cross Physiotherapy says: “We are delighted to welcome back Mr Thompson for our latest ‘Insights from the Experts’ health talk.
“Every winter and spring we see an increase in the number of patients who have returned from a ski trip with knee sprains and strains, and at worst a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. Whilst some of these injuries can be successfully treated with physiotherapy others may need surgery. Together with Mr Thompson we’ll review the options available to people with knee injuries and how our Fit to Ski programme can help prevent injury in the first place.”
The lecture is on Thursday 6 February from 7-8pm at Holy Cross Physiotherapy Clinic in Haslemere. Tickets are free and can be booked via the link on the Ski Smart page of the website.
