Help and information is at hand for local new mums wanting to get back their pre-pregnancy body.
The Physiotherapy Centre in Haslemere is holding a lecture entitled Post baby body bounce back on 18 June from 6-7pm and expects the lecture to be popular with local mums eager for information, as well as others interested in women’s health.
The lecture is open to all but physiotherapist Jenny Deeming, who will be speaking at the lecture, hopes that women who have recently given birth, will come along. “Our bodies are amazing at coping with pregnancy and birth but there is lots we can do to help them recover more fully, whether you have had a natural delivery or a C-section.”
She continues: “Women shouldn’t have to put up with problems with their post-baby bodies. Whilst their baby’s health may be their top priority, new mums are entitled to have time to look after themselves too. My talk will cover common issues like retraining tummy muscles safely, strengthening the pelvic floor and returning to sports and activities after birth. I hope the audience will have lots of questions for me as this is a subject I’m passionate about.”
The Physiotherapy Centre is also running a series of classes and one to one sessions which are designed to help women get back their pre-baby bodies. Based on the best evidence-based treatments and physiotherapy principles, the sessions will focus on common post-pregnancy health issues, returning to fitness in a safe and healthy way, and improving women’s confidence in their bodies.
Tickets to the Post baby body bounce back lecture are just £5 and available direct from The Physiotherapy Centre by email (therapy@holycross.org.uk) or phone on 01428 647647. Information about the classes is also available by contacting the centre. To enable the audience to get the most out of the talk, the lecture will be for adults only.
The lecture takes place at St Hugh’s education centre which is based in the grounds of Holy Cross Hospital. Plenty of free parking is available.
Post baby body bounce back is one of a series of fundraising lectures hosted by The Physiotherapy Centre on topics that the organisers think the local community will be interested in. Coming soon are lectures on returning to golf after a joint replacement, and injury prevention and management for runners.
The proceeds of ticket sales to the lectures will go to Holy Cross’s Treehouse Project, a fundraising campaign to raise money to build a large wheelchair-accessible platform in the hospital grounds. The platform will enable patients to enjoy the experience of being in the fresh air in a natural environment.
