Holy Cross Hospital in Haslemere is inviting nurses to call in for tea and cake on Tuesday 12 May between 2 and 4.30pm to celebrate International Nurses’ Day.
The International Council of Nurses has marked the day since 1965. In 1974, the date was changed to 12 May as this is the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, who is widely considered to be the founder of modern nursing.
Chris Hinton, Chief Executive at Holy Cross Hospital says: “Holy Cross Hospital has been in Haslemere for nearly 100 years and so it has seen many generations of nurses caring for patients on its wards. While nursing has evolved, one thing has remained constant and that is the dedication and care with which our nurses treat our patients.
“We are very dependent on nurses for the wonderful difference they make to our lives. As a show of our gratitude, I would be delighted if nurses who happen to be in Haslemere on Tuesday were able to join us and other nurses from the area.”
Holy Cross Hospital is a specialist hospital offering services for patients with severe and complex disabilities.
